Dmytro Nikolaienko (UA/EE)

Nikolaienko is a Ukrainian sound artist who primarily works with obsolete musical equipment, using it to create tape and cassette loops that serve as the foundation for his sound collages—most notably on his album Rings (2021), released on Jan Jelinek’s Faitiche label. His work has also appeared on labels such as 12th Isle, Graphical, Porridge Bullet, Kvitnu, Nexsound, and Muscut, among others.

Alongside his artistic practice, Dmytro Nikolaienko is the founder of Muscut (est. 2012, Kyiv), a label dedicated to contemporary avant-garde artists from Eastern Europe, including Chillera, Pavel Milyakov, Mlin Patz, Bryozone, and Indirect. He is also the co-founder of Shukai, an archival label focused on rediscovering and reissuing lost recordings by underrecognized artists affected by Soviet-era censorship, such as Valentina Goncharova, Volodymyr Bystriakov, and the Shapoval Sextet.
